Recent Deaths

Fr. John McCarthy, M.S.C.

It was with great sadness that we heard of the death of our parishioner, Fr. John McCarthy, M.S.C., Woodview House, Mt. Merrion Avenue. Fr. John was a regular visitor to this church. He celebrated weekend Masses here on occasion, and often assisted as special liturgies such as the Anointing of the Sick.  In recent years he was a concelebrant at the Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday.  Fr John is sadly missed by his brother, Mgr. Justin McCarthy, Los Angeles, extended family, the MSC Community, and friends. Reposing at Woodview, Mount Merrion Ave from 4 pm, Thursday 16th. Removal to Church of the Assumption on Friday 17th for Requiem Mass at 11 am.  Rest in Peace, Fr. John.

Brian Ellis

We extend our sympathy to  Madeline (Murray) on the death of her husband Brian. We convey our sympathy also to her children, extended family, relatives, friends and neighbours. Removal on Friday, 10th November to Church of the Assumption, Booterstown arriving for Requiem Mass at 10.00 am. May Brian Rest in Peace.

Rosarie Devaney (nee Barry)

We extend our sincere sympathy to Rosarie’s children, Deirdre and Barry, her extended family, relatives, friends and former neighbours in Grove Avenue and Castle Court. Removal to Church of the Assumption on Friday, 3rd November arriving for Requiem Mass at 10.00 o’clock.  May Rosarie Rest in Peace.

Gerard Fanning

We extend our sincere sympathy to Gerard’s wife, Brid, to his sister, Miriam,  his brothers, John, Dermot and David, his extended family, relatives friends and neighbours. Gerard was predeceased by his brother, Peter. Removal to Church of the Assumption, Booterstown on Saturday, 21st October arriving for Requiem Mass at 10.00 am. May Gerard Rest in Peace.

Michael Feeney

We extend our deepest sympathy to the father, Tom, and sisters, Siobhan and Francesca, of Michael Feeney who died unexpectedly in Sydney, Australia. Michael was predeceased by his mother, Joan. Our thoughts and prayers are with Tom and his daughters as well as their extended family, relatives, neighbours and many friends worldwide.  Arriving at Church of the Assumption, Booterstown for Requiem Mass on Tuesday 17th October at 11.30 am. May Michael Rest in Peace.

Margaret (Peggy) Behan

We extend our deepest sympathy to our former curate, Fr. Larry Behan, on the death of his beloved mother, Margaret (Peggy).  We sympathise also with Fr. Larry’s sister, Mary Behan, their extended family, relatives, friends and former neighbours in Fairview. Requiem Mass will be celebrated in Fr. Larry’s parish, St. Fergal’s Church, Ballywaltrim, Bray on Wednesday, 11th October at 11 am.  May Peggy Rest in Peace.

Sr. Maria Joseph Malone, O.P.

We extend our sincere sympathy to The Prioress and Community of the Dominican Convent, Sion Hill on the death of a member of their community Sr. Maria Joseph Malone. We extend our condolences also to Sr. Maria Joseph’s family, relatives and friends. Diane Larkin

We extend our deep sympathy to the parents, brother, fiance, relatives, friends and neighbours of Diane Larkin, formerly of McCabe Villas, who has died. Removal to Church of the Assumption on Tuesday, 10th October arriving for Requiem Mass at 10 am.  May Diane Rest in Peace.

Maurice Leonard

It is with great sadness that we have learnt of the death of our longtime parishioner, Maurice Leonard.  We extend our deepest sympathy to his wife, Una, his children, grandchildren, extended family and friends.  Removal to Church of the Assumption, Booterstown on Wednesday 4th October arriving at 5.00 pm. Requiem Mass on Thursday at 10.00 am followed by burial in Shanganagh.  May Maurice Rest in Peace.

Sister Jeanne McLoughlin, O.P.

We extend our sincere sympathy to the Dominican Community, Sion Hill, Blackrock on the death of Sr. Jeanne McLoughlin, O.P.  We convey our sympathy also to Sr. Jeanne’s extended family, her nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, relatives, friends and particularly her Dominican Sisters in Sion Hill.
