The Family Mass, on Sundays at 10.30 a.m. during term time, is coordinated currently by Deirdre Rudden, who arrange for teams of parents to help children to take an active part in the liturgy.
Using the Children’s Lectionary, the children take part in the penitential rite, scripture readings, Prayer of the Faithful , and the Offertory Procession.
The Family Mass, is truly inter generational, as many older people, unaccompanied by children, love the vibrancy of the liturgy.
The music at the Mass is provided by the Children’s Choir, coordinated by Deirdre Dempsey. For further information on the choir, go to Parish Groups/Music Ministry.
We are currently recruiting families to commit to this important ministry of the Family Mass, especially in the light of the World Gathering of Families, in Dublin, in 2018, hopefully to be attended by Pope Francis. With a full quota of parents, this should represent, at most, a commitment to two Masses per term. Please contact the Parish Secretary, through the “Contact Us” section, on the website.
Children in the parish also provide a very moving “Stations of the Cross” on Good Friday which is very well attended by parishioners of all ages.
