Pope Francis signed his new encyclical, Fratelli Tutti on 3rd October during a
visit to Assisi when he celebrated Mass at the tomb of his namesake, St. Francis of Assisi.
The phrase Fratelli Tutti is taken from the writings of St. Francis, one of the major
inspirations for Pope Francis’ third encyclical on fraternity and social friendship.
St. Francis invited all men and women to a love that transcends the barriers of geography and distance. The new encyclical is a social encyclical dedicated to fraternity and social
friendship. Copies of the encyclical do not seem to be available in Veritas yet but it can be
read online at the Vatican.
