Prayer composed by Sr Vera Newport RSM

hands in prayer

Sr Vera lived in the Convent of Mercy, Booterstown, and the community of Our Lady of the
Assumption parish, where she found the contentment she describes in this prayer.
May she rest in the peaceful arms of God.

No more the frantic stride to reach a destination
But more the ambling pace through the beauty that surrounds me.

No more the tortured striving to believe in you, my God
But more the quiet acceptance of all there is and will be.

No more the desperate yearning to be accepted by another,
But more the patient gentle loving of the other.

Can this be the path I’ll trod?
A path that leads to deep reflection and
resting in the warm embrace of God.
