Recent Deaths

Annette Heavey (née Carroll)

November 20, 2020, (peacefully) surrounded by loving family and in the wonderful care of all the staff in the Blackrock Hospice. Annette, beloved wife of the recently deceased Oliver, mother of Olivia, John, Carol-Ann, and Anita. Sadly missed by her daughters, son, sons-in-law Brian and Daragh, grandsons Shane and Luke, and her large extended family and friends. In memory donations in lieu to the Blackrock Hospice, Sweetman’s Avenue, Blackrock, County Dublin.

Austin Cunningham

On 17 November 2020, peacefully surrounded by his family in the excellent care of St. Vincent’s Private Hospital. Beloved husband of Margot and loving father of Susanne. Predeceased by his parents Sean and Roisin and sisters Carmel and baby Roisin Mary. Greatly missed by his sisters Monica, Marie (Nelligan), Aine (Coleman), Patricia (Orlando) and Eithne, his brother Fr. Enda, nephew, nieces, sisters- and brothers-in-law, extended family and friends. Donations, if desired, to COPD Ireland and St. Vincent de Paul.

Michael Abbey

Died December 2nd 2020 (peacefully) at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny, following a short illness. Former Councillor Carlow Town and County Councils. Dearly loved husband of Bridie and adored father of Michelle, Sharon, Karl and Denise and predeceased by his daughter Baby Karen. Sadly missed by his loving wife, son, daughters, brother Tony, sister Anne, son-in-law Barry, Denise’s partner Columba, grandchildren Eoin, Kate, Emily, Conor, Finn and Clara, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends. May Michael Rest in Peace. Owing to Government guidelines a private Funeral Mass will be celebrated on (Saturday) morning at 11am in The Church of the Holy Family, Askea followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Carlow. Anthony (Tony) PERREM

30th November 2020, unexpectedly but peacefully, in the care of the staff at Marley Nursing Home, Rathfarnham. Devoted father to Mark, Olwyn, Guy and the late Hilary and brother to the late Mary, Declan, Guy, Tom and Johnny. Tony will be sadly missed by Ronnie and their children, grandchildren Jennifer, Patrick, James, Oliver, Louis and Josh, daughters-in-law Orlagh and Sinéad, his brothers Michael and Peter, sisters Davina, Anne and Barbara, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Nora GLEESON (née Bishop)

In her 94th year, peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of the late Frank, adored by her children Mary, Geraldine, Frank, Eileen, Kate, John, Ciaran and Joan, and her sons-in-law and daughters-in-law. Nora will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by her 22 grandchildren and 3 precious great-grandchildren, and by her brother Ned (Tipperary), her sister Alice (New York) and her best friend Nora (Manchester). Blessed to have been cared for at home by our angels Sharon and Lea, and by the wonderful Dr Lisa Cogan. A private family Funeral Mass will take place at 11.00 o’c on Thursday 3rd December. Nora’s funeral cortège will leave her home at Castlecourt, Booterstown Ave to be escorted by her family for the Funeral Mass.

Rt Rev Mgr Seamus CONWAY

Pastor Emeritus Church of the Assumption, Booterstown and formerly Ballymore Eustace, Co. Kildare – August 26, 2020. Peacefully, in the wonderful care of the staff at St. Luke’s Hospital, Rathgar. Beloved brother of Patricia, Sean, Bridget, Paddy, Peter and Tom. Deeply regretted by his siblings, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, extended family, along with Archbishop Diarmuid Martin, fellow Priests of the Diocese and parishioners of the parishes in which he ministered. May Seamus rest in peace.

The removal and funeral will be private due to current government advice but the removal can be viewed online on Thursday evening (August 27th) at 5pm on our webcam and for the Funeral Mass at 11am on Friday (August 28th). Sr Dolorita Burke rsm

It is with great sadness that we heard of the death of our parishioner, Sr. Dolorita Burke, r.s.m., St. Anne’s Convent, Booterstown. We extend our deepest sympathy to her sisters, sister-in-law, her nieces and nephews, her extended family, relatives, the Sisters of Mercy, Booterstown and South Central Province.  Reposing at the Convent of Mercy, Booterstown Avenue, Blackrock on Sunday, 26th January, 2020 from 2.30 pm with Prayers at 5.30 pm. Removal to Church of the Assumption, Booterstown on Monday, 27th January at 11 am for Requiem Mass at 11.30 am. May Sr. Dolorita Rest in Peace.

Ian Clancy

It is with great sadness that we heard of the death of Ian Clancy. We extend our deepest sympathy to his wife, children, his extended family, relatives, friends and neighbours. Removal to Church of the Assumption on Thursday, 16th January arriving for Requiem Mass at 10 o’clock.  May Ian Rest in Peace.

Bernadette Sherry

It is with sadness that we advise the death of Bernadette Sherry.
