Season of Advent & Advent Wreath Blessing

advent wreath

Today is the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe and the final
Sunday in the Church’s Liturgical Calendar. Next Sunday we will begin the Season of
Advent.

The Advent wreath has been beautifully made by the Altar Society, to ensure its
visibility on the webcam. We invite those of you, viewing Mass from home, to make your
own Advent wreath. You will find instructions on the internet.

During the Sundays of Advent of might like to light you own candle on the wreath. A Blessing of the Advent Wreath and the significance of each candle will be explained weekly on the parish website.

Blessing of the Advent Wreath

We ask you, God, our creator, to bless our Advent wreath
May they remind us that Jesus is in our midst
And that we are surrounded by his love and care.
Bless the candles on the wreath.
May they remind us that Jesus is the Light of the world.
May the wreath remind us to prepare well for Christmas,
each and every day of the Advent season.
We ask these things in Jesus’ name.
Amen.
