St Patrick – New Pilgrim Path

St Patricks Cathedral Stained Glass Window

“My name is Patrick”. As St. Patrick’s Day is this Sunday, a great way to celebrate it is by reading St. Patrick’s “Confession” – the story of his capture, slavery and mission in Ireland – in his own words.
Composed in the fifth century and preserved in manuscripts dating from the 800’s, the “Confession” is the oldest text, in any language, written in Ireland that is still extant. The Royal Irish Academy has published St. Patrick’s work in a freely accessible form online, both in the original Latin and in a variety of modern languages (including Irish).
