Today Pope Francis will open a two-year Synodal journey of the Universal Church. The journey will proceed in three phases of consultation and discernment, (diocesan, continental and universal), culminating with an assembly in Rome in October 2023.
The Irish Bishops also announced preparations for a National Synodal Assembly to be held within the next five years, with a focus on the challenges and opportunities in the Church in Ireland is facing, in a rapidly changing society.
Archbishop Dermot Farrell invites each parish to send a delegate representing their parish to the liturgy inaugurating the Synodal Pathway at St. Mary’s Pro-Cathedral on Sunday, 17th October at 3.00 pm. Numbers are strictly limited due to the current regulations in place, so unfortunately only one delegate can attend from each parish. If you would like to be the delegate, please give your name to Fr. Gerry or to the Parish Office as soon as possible.
