This weekend, Sunday 20th October, our parish will celebrate World Mission Sunday. It’s a
way, chosen by Pope Frances, that gives support to those suffering within our Church family. Our Church family comes together in a celebration of solidarity. Every Church around the world shares what they can so that the vital work of the Church and our missionaries can continue.
We are fortunate to have a number of Missionary Religious orders in this parish: The Sisters
of Mercy, The Holy Rosary Sisters, the Medical Missionaries of Mary and the Missionaries
of the Sacred Heart. Many of them work in some of the world’s most impoverished communities. Members of some of these orders will speak at Masses this weekend about their missionary work.
A special collection will be taken up at each Mass and it will replace the usual Share (second) collection. Through your generosity, you are offering much needed help to missionaries to help them to care for others less fortunate.
